5 Essential Tips to Care for Your Fashion Jewelry

Say goodbye to dullness, tarnish, or loss of plating on your favorite fashion jewelry piece. Learn how to care and extend the life of all your favorite fashion jewelry so that they can last you years and years to come.

Here are 5 essential tips to care for your fashion jewelry:

1. Keep it away from water: I cannot express how important this tip is. Water can cause tarnishing and damage to fashion jewelry. Avoid wearing your jewelry while swimming, bathing, or engaging in activities that involve water. Remove your jewelry before washing your hands.

2. Store it properly: Proper storage is crucial to prevent tangling, scratching, and oxidation of your fashion jewelry. Store each piece separately in a soft pouch or a lined jewelry box to protect it from dust and other elements.

Consider using anti-tarnish strips or silica gel packets inside the box or pouch to absorb moisture and prevent tarnishing.

All our jewelry comes with either a sturdy box or a fabric pouch (in some cases, with both) so you can properly store your Tara Chial pieces.

3. Avoid exposure to harsh chemicals: Avoid exposing your fashion jewelry to harsh chemicals such as perfume, hairspray, lotion and household cleaning agents. These substances can dull the shine and damage the materials. Put on your jewelry after applying any beauty products and remove it before showering.

Remember, jewelry is the last thing to put on, and the first thing to take off.

4. Clean it gently: I consider this tip super important. Regular cleaning helps maintain the luster of your fashion jewelry. Use a soft, non-abrasive cloth to wipe away any dirt or fingerprints.

For more thorough cleaning, use a mild soap diluted in warm water. Dampen a cotton cloth and gently wipe the jewelry. Make sure the last wipe is with a clean cotton cloth dampened only with warm water. Pat it dry and ensure it is completely dry before storing.

If you've bought one of our pieces you know it comes with a cleaning cloth, make use of it and wipe your pieces after you've worn them.

5. Handle with care: Treat your jewelry delicately to prevent damage. Avoid tugging or pulling on chains, and be cautious when wearing delicate pieces. Put on your jewelry after you've finished styling your hair and dressing to prevent it from getting caught or tangled.

By following these care tips, you can enjoy your jewelry for a long time and keep it looking beautiful and well-maintained.
